Wow! It's 2009 already! Last year was busy with weekends spent working on the land, visiting family, teaching, learning new knitting stitches, moving my daughter in and son out, hmmm...very busy indeed!
It looks like 2009 is shaping up to be a busy year, too, because we purchased our mobile home to move on to the land, and now we're going to be putting up fences, planting grass, adding a huge cover that will ensure the roof will never leak and the porch will have shade, and hopefully, we'll get a little rest in there, too.
I've posted a few photos of the house now that there is furniture in the rooms. Lots of the "antique" stuff was salvaged from an abandoned home near my land. The lady who owns the land has been in a nursing home for twenty years, and after repeated phone calls to her two children, we were given permission to get anything salvageable that was left behind. It was a shame when we went into the old home, though. Thieves had ripped out walls and ceiling looking for copper wiring and anything else that might have been valuable. We managed to save a dining table and a few wooden chairs, a couple of small tables and a lamp. Also, we salvaged two cabinets from the old kitchen and I've put one in my kitchen and the other in the bathroom. They look brand new...in an antique sort of way! haha I loved this old lady, so I feel privileged to have a few of her things survive the catastrophe of her age and the disinterest of her family.
